Re: Decision time for a new name

I vote for "Versatio".

Unique name, good sound.
"Versat" for "versatile" + "io" for "information organizer" or for "input / output".
Good connotations in both cases.
"Information Organizer" works for the general public, but still differentiates from PIM.
"Input / Output" works for the more techie types.

Wishing you great success with whatever name you pick.

Re: Decision time for a new name

I think somebody proposed "Grand Vista" (or "Grande Vista") which could be used alone or in combination with one of the names in the list.  It addresses the possibilities of the program, catches a person's attention, and also is easy to remember.

Just 2 cents.

Re: Decision time for a new name

I like NeoPlan because it's broad enough to capture much of what SN is about.  The use of 'Neo' gives both credit to Pierre, but implies newness.

Re: Decision time for a new name

I'm indecisive and unfortunately only feel strongly against certain names

Possibles would be (not in any particular order) -

ZePim  - fun

EchoNotes  - like the word echo but I'm unsure about this name

UPlan  - I had input there so find it hard to be objective

NeoPlan - okay...

Daou - again a nice word...

will try come back later see if I'm more decisive

Pierre, if you're indecisive yourself, if you pretend someone told you it has to be called one name (say Daou) and see then how you feel about it...

I use that trick at times cause I'm fairly indecisive - but it's usually just between two things which is easier ...

Re: Decision time for a new name

How about

FlexNotes

Flex = 1. Can be flexed, flexible 2. Flexible to support many different types of uses. 3. You can flex your initial brainstorming/outlining/textual notes into more structured data application uses. 4. Pivotable

Notes = 1. Identifies it as an outliner / text notes / info mgt product. 2. Indicates you can start out with textual notes 3. In enterprises, people may think of "Lotus Notes" and workgroup collaboration.

Re: Decision time for a new name

Unfortunately, FlexNotes http://www.inner-wise.com/page.shtml?products is already taken. A Pocket PC application.
I'm still thinking Pierre -- will try to post again later tonight.

I'm pretty sure that participation will be scarce during Christmas time. You'll probably have more feedback after the 27th, or even after January 1st. :)

How about

FlexiBase

FlexiBase seems to be avaialable as a Software name at any rate

Hmmm, I like it...I think!!

Even though SQLNotes seems to be targeted towards power users, I think a name change is essential. The current name says "don't bother even thinking about using this program unless you really, really, know your stuff". Likewise, the front page of this site starts with a lengthy list of all the technical features of the program, whereas it should start with a list of all the practical benefits the program will bring to the user.

So you need a cuddly name. MS's OneNote is a great program, and OneNote is a great name. So why not take that one step further...

OnePlace.

OnePlace for all your data. Collect. Organise. Search.
