Welcome To SQLNotes  Welcome To SQLNotes Minimize

SQLNotes (code name) is a new type of information management software (IMS), with Ecco Pro style outlining, Access-like tables (for relational data), Excel-like Pivot table and Microsoft Word-like editing and mail-merge. SQLNotes is a PIM, but it is much more. It is also a Workgroup Information Manager, being fully networkable. Unlike other PIM or IMS, your SQLNotes data is fully accessible to other applications, whether it is Microsoft Office or any other modern Office suite (through the built-in ODBC connection). It can function as an outliner, a grid, a flexible database with or without relational structure.

  • Items can be organized in hierarchy and be assigned any number of user-defined fields.
  • Fields can be displayed in columns (in the grid) and/or in the properties pane.
  • Items are displayed in grids, where users can choose which field to display
  • Grids allow users to select which items to display. Source, Filter and Alpha filter allow users to just display the items desired. These support simple criteria and advanced (AND, OR, etc) ones.
  • Item order can also be defined, supporting multi-field sorting. Sorting fields need not be displayed in the grid
  • Each grid can be viewed by ODBC enabled apps (all of the MS Office suite, and Open Office, to name just those). This allows users to diretly use SQLNotes data in other apps. Examples are:
    • Use Word to do mail-merge, personnalized emails
    • Use Calc or Excel to view SQLNotes data, for user who don't have SQLNotes
    • Use Access to view and use SQLNotes data. Can use Access to print sophisticated reports
  • Pivot tables (built-in) can be used to summarized data. Examples are:
    • Get the number of hours worked per project, billed, to be billed
    • Yearly revenues, per customer, per month, etc
  • The HTML Editor/Browser pane can be used to:
    • Enter rich text (all formatting options, bullets, tables, other HTML objects, including Flash). Supports Unicode characters.
    • Drag-drop web clippings, to gather in one page, information from many pages
    • Display a live URL. Used as internet shortcuts, linked to individual items
    • Display local files. Automatically saves all changes to the content.
    • All information in the HTML Pane is automatically indexed and searchable
  • A search window allows for advanced searches, in 1 or many fields, supporting AND/OR criteria
  • Grid display supports formatting and many display modes, namely with or without context parents.

SQLNotes main window.
Top shows the outline grid. Supports unlimited outline levels and rich text formatting in all columns.
Bottom shows Rich text editing pane. Supports all the usual formatting plus bullets, images, web links, tables (with embedded tables and merged cells),

Finally, the properties pane is shown on the right. All item info is shown here.
