Re: Are you or will you use SQLNotes?

just FTR I've already voted here & in the other poll thread

Using SQLN for work, (daily, couldnt manage without it now - eh, formerely I simply wasnt organised )

for

  • keeping track of projects (progress/time tracking) also ToDo lists
  • for breakdown of Invoice "contents" i.e. time spent on what & also (seperately) what drawings the client physically gets for the money & notes on same (all exported as webpage)
  • for some "private" stuff, song lyrics, notes on software (bugs requests), bits n bobs etc

I've given up on Evernote for notes, still using Surfulater and occasionally using Agenda at Once (PIM) but dont really need a calender for most of my work..

I am evaluating SN as a possible replacement for EverNote. I've already donated to development since I think the project is very, very solid. I am quite excited about exploring the features!

Couple things I've noticed so far:

* It would be nice to have a printable documentation set (or the ability to print the complete documentation from within SQLNotes). The wiki is wonderful, but doesn't have a PRINT THIS PAGE setting that I can locate. A documentation PDF and Quick Start Guide included with the installer (or as a separate download) would be GREAT.

* I cannot seem to open my SNDB by double-clicking on it... Doing so launches SQLNotes, but does not launch the specific database. Will this functionality be added in the future?

Welcome to SQLNotes vogelap and thanks for your donation!

If you have any suggestions to make it as good as EN, let us know.

1- To print a wikispace page, follow these steps (hopefully, they'll make it simpler soon)

  1. Click Manage Space
  2. Click List of pages
  3. Find the page you want and click Print

2- I'll test double-click. It was working at one point.

Thanks for the compelling program!

GLADLY! I'll have a lot of suggestions... I adore EverNote 2.2.1 and am heartbroken over the decisions around development of 3.0, so I am looking for something to build upon the strengths of 2.2.1. I hope I've found it in SQLNotes!

Thanks for the tip. I'm hoping to find a one-click solution to print the ENTIRE documentation set, either from SQLNotes (since the documentation is included therein) or from Wikispace. Easy multiple-document printing is something that I hope SQLNotes does/will have -- it makes things much easier (and, while we're talking about it, an output option to print each item on a separate page is mandatory!).

Thanks again. I can confirm that double-clicking is now working in the most recent build (the one with preliminary EverNote import), though it relies on Tools->Options->Modes->Open last file on startup being set to "Yes". I guess you fixed something!

Is there some reason why you're not defaulting to storing SNDBs in My Documents/SQLNotes? Just curious... I know I can navigate there, but wondered why it defaults to the program directory.

You can also click the down arrow on the "Page" tab at the top of each page, and select "Print", which opens up a version of the page without menus or ads.

The wikispace is not able to, but SQLNotes can. Unfortunately, the most uptodate doc is on the wiki. I regularly copy/paste the wiki to the default database, but not on every change of course.

To print all doc in the default database, select all items in the Welcome grid (items>select all items) and do an HTML export and check Include HTML below item. There are numerous options in the export dialog. You can experiment. You'll get a combined HTML page with expand/collapse buttons and expand/collapse HTML (...) links. Read online or print.
