I wonder how may beta testers are, or have been, Ecco users?

Re: Are you an Ecco User?

I voted for "I have never used Ecco "... But I did try it. Just never really used it.

Pierre,

I removed the last option of using both Ecco and SQL Notes as that was not the question here (Use of SQL Notes is part of another poll).

This SqlNotes beta trier has used Ecco since its inception.

Forget about Ecco's Calendar and Phonebook. Until something comes out that can at the very least match Ecco's outlining and columns in its Notepads I must  stick with it .

I wish I could have bigger databases and more tabs along the bottom of the page. At the moment I am trying single top-level notepad Ecco instances eg investments, contacts, accessed from Evernote.

I continue to use ECCO because it has a calendar and an addressbook, which function well enough, although I don't really like either one very much.  I have tabs for the main areas of my work, which contain note info, but also action items.  What's important for me is the ability to have the calendar as part of a view with the tabs I use, permitting me to drag items onto the calendar or to do list area.  The ability to visualize this information is very helpful in planning and organizing.

I could make the SN grids work for me, although Ecco's ability to have multiselect items may not be manageable with the current grid control.  Once Pierre can get the calendar up and running, I'd switch over in a heartbeat.  It's just too inconvenient to have my calendar in one application and the rest in another or others.  The planning becomes fragmented and inefficient.

I've donated cash to the cause, because I have faith in Pierre,  I've tried and/or owned many of the PIM's and notetaking packages discussed on this forum and a couple of others - DonationCoder and Outlinersoftware.  I tend to keep coming back to Ecco, even though it's dated, because the planning and organization don't feel fragmented.  When Pierre gets SN off the ground with a calendar, I'll set Ecco aside.

Mike

MikeH : I'm curious... What to do you mean by "[...] Ecco's ability to have multiselect items may not be manageable with the current grid control"?

Re: @@@ Are you, have you been, or are have you never been an Ecco User? @@@

I have a nest of folders as 'Team'.  Each key person has their own folder under this heading.  If I add Team as a column on an Ecco notepad, I can select several people from the team and they appear one after the next in the cell for the item.  In SN, I have to do it with a bunch of yes/no fields in a form.

Another way of looking at this is a preconfigured dropdown list in SN can only have one choice selected by the user, unless I've missed the boat.

That would be really nice, eg in categories, the drop down field,

I would have some items that would qualify for more than one category...
